Walter Blackerby (deceased)

 

 Mary 14, 1927 - April 23, 1988

The funeral for Walter R. Blackerby, 60, of Cheyenne, WY, was held April 27 at Wiederspahn Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne.  He died April 23, 1988, at his home.

Blackerby was born Mary 14, 1927, at Decatur to George and Hazel Blackerby.  He attended school in and near Burt County and graduated from Decatur Public School May 2, 1945.  He enlisted in the United States Army Mary 14, 1945, and was sent to basic training June 25 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  Blackerby worked as a medic in Fort Lewis, WA.

He married Virginia Renno December 10, 1969.  They had one son, William Ray Blackerby.

In addition to his wife and son, survivors include four daughters by a previous marriage, Sharon Shaw, Donna Crane, Kathy Niemann and Kristy Baumgardner; and nine Grandchildren, all of Cheyenne;  his mother, Hazel Blackerby of Omaha; brothers, Wesley of Omaha and Melvin of Poland Springs, Maine; sisters, Gladys Goeken of Omaha, Mary of Bellevue and Pauline Lohmann of Phoenix, AZ; and mother and father-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Grover Renno of Hugheville, MO.
