Ned S. Maryott was born on May 16, 1930, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Max and Claire
(Sweet) Maryott. He passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Golden Living Center,
Tekamah, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years.
Ned grew up on a farm west of Decatur and attended Deman School and Decatur Public
School, where he graduated in 1947. Ned was an avid sports fan and lettered in
football all four years. He later played town team football with the Decatur Ramblers.
He attended Wayne State College and Doane College.
In June, 1949, he married JoAnn Schneider in Sioux City, Iowa. One son, David Lyle,
was born to them. The family lived on Grandpa Guy Sweet's farm until moving to South
Sioux City, Nebraska, in 1964, where Ned worked for a veterinary supply company. In
1967, he accepted a job managing Doctor Feed Lots in Britton, South Dakota, and later
Owen Livestock. In 1973, he became a cattle order buyer, and eventually began a
family order buying business, Maryott Livestock. Ned was an officer in the North
Central Livestock Feeders Assocation for many years.
May 11, 1996, he married Joey J. Anderson, and they made their home in Britton until
retiring and moving to Decatur in 2001. He married Jeanette Major-Nix June 16, 2011.
Ned was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur. He was also a lifetime
member of American Legion Post 215, having served in the Navy Reserves. He was very
active in the organization, and had been an officer for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette, of Tekamah, Nebraska; sons, David Maryott of
Aberdeen, South Dakota, Jim (Mary) Anderson, Jeff (Vicki) Anderson, and Jerry (Jody)
Anderson, all of Omaha, Nebraska; grandson, Jacob Maryott of Webster, South Dakota;
granddaughter, Sandra Maryott of Granite Falls, Minnesota; brother, Dean (Denise)
Maryott, of Kingman, Arizona; sister, Jan Huffman, of Decatur; cousins, nieces,
nephews, and a host of friends.
FUNERAL MASS: Wednesday, April 4, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur.
VISITATION: Tuesday, 1-8 pm, family receiving friends from 4-8pm with a 6:00 pm VIGIL SERVICE, all at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held Wednesday, an hour prior to the service at the church.
BURIAL WITH MILITARY HONORS: Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur, Nebraska

Children: 4 sons; Dave Maryott, Jerry , Jim and Jeff Anderson.
Grandchildren: Our combined families consist of 8 grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren
After graduation I attended college for one year at Wayne State Teachers College. The next year I attended college at Doane.
In 1949 I married JoAnn Schneider. We had been married 45 years when JoAnn passed away.
After College I was in the cattle feeding business with my Grandfather, Guy Sweet, for the next 14 years. This business was located west of Decatur. After my Grandfather's death, I moved my family to South Sioux City, NE.
For the next four years I sold animal health products for two companies, Anchor and Midland Vet. After moving to Amherst, SD, I managed a large feedlot for the next 5 years.
In 1971 I started my own business as a cattle buyer. I moved this business to a 160 acre ranch near Britton, SD.
In 1996 I married Joey (Dimmick) Anderson. At present, Joey and I make our home on this ranch. I am semi-retired; however, I still do some business as Maryott Livestock.
