HELEN DELL (HALSTEAD) KOFOID was born on June 20, 1930 in Decatur, Nebraska. the daughter of Frank A. and Lois (Lewis) Halstead. She passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 77.

On August 9, 1953, Helen married Charles M. Kofoid in Decatur. Helen received her Bachelor degree at Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. She went on to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she obtained a Masters degree in Education. Helen was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma in Pittsburg, Kansas. She was a multi-faceted woman; she proudly walked 1,937 miles at the Cortez Recreation Center. Helen had been a member of an a cappella choir group when she attended Dana College and took part in a Shakespeare Club in Indian, Penn. In her free time, Helen enjoyed bowling and golfing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Holly Kofoid; and her siblings, Raymond Halstead and Elvira Halstead.

Surviving Helen are her loving husband of 54 years, Charles Kofoid of Cortez; her children, Jodi Starr and husband, Todd of Cortez, Lori Kofoid of Ithaca, N.Y., Shon Kofoid and wife, Jessica of Leon, Iowa, Kyle Kofoid and wife, Cathy of Topeka, Kan.; and her grandchildren, Sam Starr, Blake, Shay, Evan, and Morgan Kofoid, and Julia and Eli Kofoid.
