FLORA ROSE QUICK was born May 2, 1923, in Deweese, Nebraska, to Harry E. and Nina (Kenley) Hunter. She passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah, Nebraska, at the age of 90 years.
Flora Rose graduated from Decatur High School in 1941.
She married John Dewhurst and they had three children: John Jr., Joyce and Linda. They later divorced. In her later years, she married James Quick of Tekamah, now deceased.
Flora Rose worked as a bookkeeper in Fremont for 5 years, Tekamah Motors for 14 years, and served as Executive Director of Tekamah Housing Authority, managing 26 apartments.
She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah and Tekamah S.C.I.P., whose purpose is to do things for the elderly, parties, helping the Chatt Center, etc. She enjoyed plants and flowers, and at one time raised over 300 violets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Quick, daughter, Joyce Parker; brother and sisters-in-law, Dean and Lavina Hunter, Delores Hunter; grandson, Steven Parker.
Survivors include her son, John (Cynthia) Dewhurst, Jr. of Tekamah; daughter, Linda (LeRoy) Hovendick of Tekamah; brother, Glenn Hunter of Tekamah; son-in-law, Larry Parker of New Orleans, LA; 16 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
