Don L. Worley Jr.

1922 ~ 2013

 

Don L Worley, Jr., 90 years of age, was born July 22, 1922, in Decatur, Nebraska.  He was born the oldest of four sons to Don and Dora (Miller) Worley. He passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, at Gretna Community Living Center in Gretna, Nebraska.
 
After graduating from Decatur High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Beard. From this union three children were born, Phil, Janice and Marty. 
 
Don and Doris made their home north of Decatur where they enjoyed raising their children and farming the land.  Don farmed for 43 years before retiring at age 62.  He continued to work for an additional 20 years at the Decatur toll bridge where he enjoyed daily conversations with co-workers and customers.
 
Don and Doris enjoyed traveling with their children, dancing, fishing and spending time with their eight grandchildren and their spouses and their 17 great- grandchildren.
 
Don was a member of the Decatur United Methodist Church, where he loved worshipping.  He also was a member of the Eagles club in Onawa for many years.
 
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Dora Worley; brother, Paul; daughter, Janice; two great grandsons; brothers- and sisters-in-laws, Beulah and Howard Lewis, Robert and Sara Baker, Louis and Dona Beard, Charles Beard, Johnnie Beard and William Witthuhn.
 
Survivors include his wife, Doris of Lyons, NE; sons, Phil (Mitzi) and Marty (Karen) of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren and their spouses; 17 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Boyd and Jana Worley and Gene and Jean Worley, all of Decatur, Betty Witthuhn of Loveland, Colorado and Mary Lou Beard of Tekamah; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, April 11, 2013, 11:00 am from the United Methodist Church in Decatur, NE

VISITATION: Wednesday, April 10, 5-8 pm with family receiving friends from 5-7 at the Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to services.

BURIAL: Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur
