Children:  Dave (deceased), Denise, Doris & Kenny

Grandchildren:  Valerie, Russell, Tracey, Tony, April, Anna Marie, and Angelique

     Went in to the Army after graduation.  Married in 1954 and lived in Omaha, NE.  Was employed by  Hinky-Dinky for 30 years.  Moved back to Decatur in 1984 where I am presently employed by the Burt County Bridge Commission.

June 23, 1930 - August 26, 2002

Delmond  "Del" Hightree, 72, of Decatur died August 26, 2002, at Tekamah Health & Rehab.   A graveside service was held August 29 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur with Rev. Brion Tolzman officiating.  Military honors were conducted by Decatur American Legion and VFW and the U.S. Army.

He was born June 23, 1930, at Decatur, the son of Earl and Blanche (Renner) Hightree.  He graduated from Decatur High School in 1948.

He enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1951, served in the Korean Conflict, and was discharged in December 1953.  He was wounded at Sangwan-ni, Korea, July of 1951, and was awarded a purple heart medal.

September 4, 1954, he married Joan Collins at Walthill.  He was employed at Hinky-Dinky warehouse in Omaha for 35 years before moving to Decatur in 1984.  There he worked for Burt County Bridge Commission.

Memberships included Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Rogers-Crum Post No. 215 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all Decatur and DAV at Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David, three brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are his wife of Decatur; two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Larry Wellman of Lincoln, and Doris and Dale Turner of Council Bluffs, IA; son, Kenneth Hightree of Omaha; seven grandchildren; and three great -grandchildren.

Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa, was in charge.
