     I served in the army and toured 1 1/2 years in Vietnam.  I am a self-employed carpenter.  I enjoy spending time with my family and bow hunting.

July 20, 1951 - February 22, 2007

Richard "Dick" W. McMullin , 55, Onawa, Iowa, died suddenly  on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Onawa.

Richard was born July 20, 1951 at Blair, Nebraska, the son of Leonard Smith and Shirley (Castor) McMullin.  He was raised in Decatur, Nebraska and graduated from Decatur High School in 1968.(1969)  He joined the United States Army April, 1971 and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge, April 1972.

Richard married Roma Gross July 27, 1974 in Onawa.  The couple made their home in Onawa and Richard owned and operated R & R Construction.  Roma died January 10, 2000 at Onawa.

Richard was a member of Monona County VFW Post 2694, Tri Rivers Archery and a past president of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Onawa.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Stacey and Jamie Allen of Onawa; a step  daughter and her husband, Treva and John Lee of Greenville, MS; five grandchildren: Olivia, Devin and Taylor Allen and Billy Wayne and Lena Elizabeth Lee; his Mother, Shirley Wilson of Decatur; three brothers: Lee and his wife, Tina, of Decatur, Terry of Sioux City, IA, and John and his wife, Tonya, of Decatur; and three sisters: Vicky McMullin of Decatur; Cindy Nipp and her husband, Charlie, of Lyons, NE; and Jeanna Sears and her husband, Matt, of Decatur.

IN addition to his wife, Roma, he was preceded in death by his father, Leonard, and grandparents, Bill and Luelia Castor

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2007 at First Christian Church, Onawa, with Pastor Don Collison officiating.  Music selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "Go Rest High On That Mountain" with Heidi Allen,  soloist and Ann Phillips, organist.  Burial was in Onawa Cemetery with Military honors conducted by the United States Army and Monona County VFW Post 2694.  Visitation was 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Rush Family Care Service, Onaway.

Casket bearers were Al Copple, Al Lynn, Jeff Gross, Dillard Gross, E.J. McGuire, Paul Belt and Ed Miller.
